Dvd Drive install??

I want to buy a dvd drive, is it hard to put in yourself, or should I get it installed professionally. Also does it make a BIG difference from a 4x drive speed from a 8x??. One more thing too please.......I have an older dvd drive as the drive player that the burner will be copying off of, will the burner copy fine off of the old drive?
Thank you

Drives are not hard to install yourself, as long as you have the room for them in the case--empty 5.25" bay--and an unused IDE and power cable to connect to it. Basically it is a matter of connecting 2-3 cables and screwing in 4 screws. Then you'll need to install the associated software.

The 8x drive will be TWICE as fast as the 4x.

Not sure I'd make a copy directly from one drive to another. The most reliable method is to first copy an image of the original DVD to the hard drive, then go from the hard drive to the DVD burner.
