speakers

SPEAKERS NEED TO BECHANGED - How do I go about changing them over to see if my speakers are bad? Windows 98, IE 5.5. No sound comes from my speakers.

IMHO,

step 1: check all the wires & connections, then check them again.

step 2: click the little speaker icon in the system tray (bottom right of your screen) and check to see if anything is set to Mute and that the volume is turned up at least a little. If it is muted, or the volume is turned down, ask yourself if you've been annoying your room-mates late at night.

step 3: try the speakers on some other audio equipment.

step 4: unintall & reinstall the sound card. Make sure that you have the current drivers for the card on hand.

after doing above -- might want to go to the vendor website and download \install latest sound driver for your card.
