How to determine processor speed?
Win 98 SE
My son installed a game on a Gateway Solo 2150 laptop, and the game starts but immediately generates a error message, "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." I'm trying to troubleshoot. I've run a registry cleaner and window washer to clean up the disk, but was unable to run Defrag even from Safe Mode.
The software calls for minimum 266mHz clock speed, and I'm not sure this computer is up to the task. Is there a way to determine what processor is in use, or what clock speed a computer is running at? I tried >Control Panel >System but it only shows x86 etc etc. Any ideas?

Try this program - it will identify your processor and give you some other information about it.
Good luck!

Start, Settings, Control Panel, System. The first page will show processor speed.
OR.
Processor options
To determine the processor type and speed:
1. Turn on your system.
2. When the system starts and you see "Press <F2> to enter SETUP," press Esc. System information, including the processor type and speed, appears on the screen, then the Boot Menu appears.
3. Press Enter to continue loading Windows
The range of processors in this unit should be sufficient. How much memory? Video card?
What game?
I would try reinstalling the game after uninstalling it to see if that helps.
