Angry Website Reliablility

First off I am NOT WillyWhy, I am using his account though since MINE will not post an article. My account name is SilnetMystic, In case a Mod. is watching I am not allowed to post, or Private Message one of the Mods. Although I can still login, But that is it.

Ok now time for my question. I have found a website that offers DSL speed without the DSL prices, is there a way to tell if the site is 'legit'?

Also how can the internet be sped up to DSL speed without any extra hardware, I thought you needed a new and special modem to connect to the new lines, but the way the site sounds it uses what is alreay there.

This is the website, how does anyone tell it is a 'legit' site?

First a question? What do you consider "DSL" speed?

My answer is don't waste your time and money. It's caching pure and simple. Get yourself a (((gag))) AOL account. Their middle name is cache....lol They can serve old out of date pages as good as the best of them.

You can't get "DSL speeds" without paying for DSL. Just like you can't get a car the handles like a Ferrari without buying a Ferrari. Sure it may look like one... but how long can you be fooled?

If you just ocasional web browsing it will speed it up. AOL has been using this system for years. It will basically look into what you've been doing in the past, and constantly download information it thinks you may want to read next. It's basically similar to the prefetch unit in the processor. The problem is that if it's wrong it's as fast as a "regular" dial-up. The problem is that it's really like driving a Ferrari on a country gravel road. Sure you can go fast... but the road (i.e. dial up link) is holding you back.

If you do a lot of downloading and heavy email (with attachements) you'll really notice no major improvement.

Are you kidding me? Even if they do cache pages and don't really have broadband speeds, at that price, they sure as heck beat AOL.

I would say try it for a week for free and see how it works out. If you have problems getting online and staying connected, drop them. Also try Joi Internet - their services starts about $6/month for regular dial-up and $10/month for "accelerated."

True the "accelerated" is a load of crap - but at $4-6/month, who cares???

Here's one reason you should care. From their TOS:
Customer agrees to receive commercial emails from Provider for the term of this Agreement and for the period of 18 months after its termination.

You think it's worth getting on another spam list? Have fun.

No, one of the other Mods must have - not unusual.

As for your account, I couldn't tell you - unfortunately, that has nothing to do with me. You'll have to e-mail the Admin about that.
Use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page.

Here's one reason you should care. From their TOS:
I'll admit, I haven't read AOL's TOS in a while, but it used to say essentially the same thing - not to mention all the ads built-in to AOL and their e-mails and essentially every site you visit in their proprietary software.

Anything's better than AOL, especially if it's cheaper. Get a good
Spam buster, or just don't use their e-mail address and no problem.

Good luck!
