Just to clarify: this component worked properly before you re-installed XP?
In Start, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, does it window show any audio device installed?
Try restarting the computer.
One thing to try:
In Start, Control Panel, Add Hardware, run the wizard to detect your hardware as the instructions direct.

ok, thanks a lot. yeah, when i went to device manager, it said no devive found. so the driver issue would make sense, considering it is intergrated audio. thanks again for the help. as always, i came here and my problem was solved. lol you guys have a good day, and GOD BLESS.
