device files
hey guys,i just reinstalled windows 98,i did the whole bit with the format and all.now when i turn my computer on,i get a full page saying the following devices needs applications for these files to work.they are as follows
system.ini
c:\windows.ooo\system\
vshinit.vxd
i thought when you reinstalled windows it installed everything but was i wrong.any kinda advice would be appreciated.thanks.

CAUSE
These files are components of McAfee Safe and Sound, an associated program. The registry refers to these files, however, if the files no longer exist or if the program is damaged, you receive the error message described in the preceding section.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact McAfee for support for issues that arise with the McAfee Safe and Sound program
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\Vshinit
Back up the Vshinit key, and then delete the entire key.
Quit Registry Editor, and then restart your computer.

If you wanted to do a repair install to fix a problem, you will need to do it again, when it gets to the point of asking which directory to install to, change it to read C:\Windows. You have done a fesh load into a different directory than what Windows was originally installed to.
