Hard drive backup

What is the best way to back up an entire harddrive to another harddrive? I was using drive image 4, but can't get it to work anymore.

Thanks,

Harlan.

Are you trying to backup everything on the drive, or just selected files? Does the location of the files on the drive matter? What are you trying to accomplish?

I would like to back up the entire drive once a week or so, in case of a disaster. I have another large hard drive on my computer which I can back to.

Then all you really want to backup is the data that is stored on the hard drive. You do not need to bother backing up the OS or the installed programs.

Find a good backup utility, or simply wire a batch file, to copy the files you need saved to the backup hard drive. Microsoft offers a backup utility and there are other plenty of shareware and freeware programs available.

If you have XP, just use "Backup".

It's under:

Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools

You can tell it to backup whatever you want: just files or the whole shebang. It should be good enough for a simple HDD to HDD backup.
