lost admin password

lost admin password

i got a new computer and gave the old one to my kids. one of them (there are 3 girls, 9, 10 and 13) has changed the admin password, and now i can't get to MY stuff!!

have tried all the kids, dogs, fish and friends names, and gonna have to start over i guess.


where do i start?

got to be a better way

They say If you can boot It Into safemode the password could be changed but you got to first get Into computer,I can see the predicament?
They say you can by password protected software for a 100 bucks maybe get a specialist to drop by maybe 30 dollar house call eh?

even safemode password protected

Every time I go Into safemode I got to provide my password
won't the girls give you the password?

those little darlings claim they had nothing to do with it

maybe i will offer a reward..!!!

not a biggie since i have a newer and better one, but at some point i will need to get in there

There are all kinds of Password recovery programs for Win2k, XP and 9x. Passware is good and there are a few others. They usually require you to make a boot disk (linux usually) so it can boot and read NTFS (even though MS techs say you can't). I recently had to use Passware Password Recovery on a Win2k machine and the owner just about name their first born after me. Give it a try.

Knoppix will mount a NTFS share.

This site explains several methods in detail. Getting into a password protected Windows machine is pretty easy. That site will show you how.
