my computer is running slower with the new zone alarm update, anyone else?

about a month ago I downloaded the new zonealarm update, and ever since then my computer is surfing much slower (at least it seems to me it is). the new zonealarm update is the one that has their anti-virus (which I've got turned off). the zonealarm is running in the stealth mode, high on internet zone security and high on the trusted zone security. the alerts and logs portion was set "to archieve log text daily" --- not really sure whether to dc this or just empty it out if there are no problems. e-mail protection is on, and it says .vbs only. again I'm not sure why. I don't use outlook express but use several of the other available e-mails and my anti-virus is supposed to have e-mail protection. --should this be on? just wonder if anyone else's surfing slowed down with the the zone-alarm free update that includes their anti-virus. thx

 

With it set so high, it may be taking longer to analyze your data stream than it did before. Writing the text file may take some considerable time as well.

It sounds as if you are running two anti-virus programs simulataneously. If so, this will cause problems. Use one and uninstall the other.

How about your equipment and operating system? Processor and speed, amount of RAM, how full is the hard drive? Win 98 or XP? Is the operating system up to date?

How much is running in the background? Scandisk and defrag lately? What spyware cleanup program are you using?
