"error reading data" in nero
Hi there,
Do you have an idea what could be the cause of the 'Error reading data' error when creating a DVD image from a source disk created with XCOPY XPRess?
Are there any known issues with this combination?
While creating the image file in Nero, for some reason or another the writing image speed keeps fluctuating between 6MB/sec and 200KB/s. Sometimes Nero will be able to regain speed but this is not always the case, cause it happends that sometimes once it drops down to 200KB the error 'Error reading data' comes up.
I also tried burning it 'on the fly' but with no success, most probably due to the same problem mentioned above while reading the source disk. Given that the source disk is also a copy created with XCOPY Xpress, could it be caused due to poor burning from XCOPY XPress's side?
I never had problems with CD-Rs.
Do you think a better program exists other than Nero 6 for DVD burning? I have a 2.4GZ pentium running under under windows xp with 512MB of ram.
Regards
RA

This may be a buffer underrun problem. Check that you are not running any process and memory hungry applications at the same time. You might check the Nero website and see if the FAQ or forum covers this.

It must be a memory related issue cause yesterday I tried the same operation and everything worked fine! Who knows! Could it have been caused due to overheated drive? The CDs (media) become quite hot once ejected from the drive...is this normal? I presume yes.
