installing programs, admin rights - XP Home
Hi,
I am having problems viewing some programs I installed on XP. Some programs, like AVG, are in the start menu of all users but some only show up in the user account that has admin rights. I created one "special" account that has administrator rights which I use to install all my programs. But when I log onto my user account, some programs are not in the "Start" menu. I (niavely) assumed all the programs installed from an "admin" account would be accessible to all users. What am I doing wrong? Is there a default adminstrator accout in XP similar to UNIX "su" or root account?
Thanks.

Avg 6.0
You can allows download AVG 6.0 very fast for your administration account
regardless If It Is In other accounts?I use to have many accounts but decided two was best..I have my reasons and all like going Into safemode and such I felt that the two accounts were best.Remember you can adjust the settings In Admin maybe for you It might be better to eliminate the ADMIN
account If everyone using the computer can be trusted eh?

Hi Las,
Thanks for your responses. I don't think I was being clear in my original post. I too have an andmin account (I called it "root"). This is the only account on which programs can be installed and sytem settings can be changed. The problem is that when I install some programs using the admin account, they don't show up on the start menu of the user (non admin) accounts. How do I get them to show up in ALL accounts?
An example of one of the programs that is not showing up in the user accounts is Quintisenntial Media Player. It's free software that I downloaded from download.com.
Thanks.
