Frequent Cable Internet Disconnection w/high downloads

Problem: Whenever i download usually over 100kbps for prolonged periods of time. My cable internet will stop working and i will have to reset the modem in order to get back online. The cable modem seems to stop receieving packets b/c the light doesn't light up anymore thereafter

So basically i was wondering if anyone can tell me why it does this or help me solve the problem. I am with adelphia cable interent. Somtimes it only takes 15-20minutes after resetting the modem untill i need to reset it again b/c of my downloading.

I apprecaite all the help in advance. Thanks!!!

Check to see if you modem is over heating. If you have splitters on your line try removing them as it could be a weak signal also.

Does your cable have limits on the speed and amount you can download?
Why don't you call them next time you have the problem. Your paying for service use their support lines.

Assuming they won't charge you to have someone come out, ask them to have a technician come and do an SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) check.

It sounds like your modem is losing block sync on persistent connections. Even if they were capping you, the data should still trickle in.
