Question DVD in CD burner...

for home movies/pictures. Is it possible to put movies or pictures on a dvd in a cd burner? I do not have a dvd burner but for some reason I have some dvd's laying around and I noticed that they hold alot more MB's than a cd, so I figure I could hold more pictures/movies on one, that way I have less cd's to go through to find the picture I want to print. I recently noticed dvd+r in a store. What is the difference between dvd+r and dvd-r. I have the -r's. If I cannot, what is the difference between a dvd and cd then? They look and feel the same.

Thanks for your help.

You need a DVD burner to make DVDs. DVD+R is format different from DVD-R. Different players read different formats. Buy a burner that makes both or be sure to get the one that suits your player. DVD+R discs are different from DVD-R discs.

The format for a CD is different from the format of a DVD, consequently the different capacities.

Hope this helps.

dvd's use a totally different compression than cd's.
dvd burners are really cheap.
yes, dvd's will hold 4.7 gig(dual layer 8.5) compared to 700mb(less than 1 gig)with cd's.

The + and - are different formats. Remember the old beta vs vhs format war? Its a similar battle.

Current format war - HD-DVD vs blue-ray DVD.
