Sound, but no video on bootup?

Hello Everyone,

My problem is this! My Father has a computer running Windows XP. He called me the other night and said that his computer, when he booted it up, said "PC Correct ?". It won`t go to his desktop, but has all the sounds of windows starting-up! I have not been there to see it personally but would like some info before I do! I do know somewhat about computers but still not that great!!! If anyone knows what I can do, "I would sure appreciate it"...

Thanks Again,
Dave Roberts

Run a virus scan and an adware scan.

Hope this helps.

haven't run into this before. are you sure it says correct, and not connect?
did he uninstall any tax software before this happened?
when you get to take a look, let us know.

We definitely need more info. I think it's "connect". My guess is that the only problem is that the video cable isn't connected tightly, and he's booting, just can't see because the monitor is gettinf no signal.

That, of course is just a COMPLETE shot in the dark.

Let us know, as tae said.

You won`t believe this!!!

Thank-You for all the advice!!!

I went down and looked at my Fathers computer and it did say "PC Correct ?""!!! What it was is he has a cordless mouse and the batteries were low!!! I thought that it was kinda wierd that it said what it said and not something like "Your Mouse Is Not Connected"!!! Anyway, Thank-You!!!
