If you already have sygate I would use it.

You've asked this question before. Do you think you will get different answers, or didn't you like those other answers?

firewalls

I was confused; I tried to recall if I asked the question and someone said I would use 'another' firewall so I wrote back and asked if there would be a conflict using two firewalls(not understanding if the person implied winxp sp2 'with' sygate or sygate 'instead' of sp2's firewall.)
I don't recall getting a response-I was basically asking if sp2 firewall was a better choice than sygate. Would you be kind enough to render an opinion?
Thank you
Pete

I know nothing about Sygates firewall.

Do not use two software firewalls, use only one.

XP's firewall, if properly updated, is fine. There is no need to buy something else unless you really want to.

My personal opinion is that any windows-based software firewall, regardless of manufacturer, is far less useful than a hardware firewall. When hardware firewall devices can be had for <$50, I always go with the additional hardware.

I agree also agree with racraft. If you're going to use a software firewall, use only one.

Hello
Thank you for the information-I was not aware that win xp sp2 firewall could be updated but I'll look into it. I do also understand the logic regarding a hardware firewall and appreciate the opinion.

Hardware - Buy a netgear or linksys router/firewal

Software - Buy Nortons Interent Security 2005
- This includes Firewall/Anti-Virus/Multi Utils

This should provide you with good protection.
