Virus ?

I just found out that my system was infected with a trojan horse. I noticed over the last few days my computer wasn.t akways acting right online. [I have dial-up] I have AWG free virus system on my XP service pack 2. Apparently the virus turned off the daily virus scan. I manually started the scan and it found 2 identical - trojan horse back door generic DCO on the c\windows\system 32\config\service exe. AWG has isolated and fixed the files.

I'm barely computer savy but if possible I would like to know where I got the virus and what if anything it has done on my computer. Is this too hard for me to find out? Should I just be glad nothing crashed and hopefully everything is ok? I would hope to keep this from happening again. Thanks for your help.

Try the following two web sites, or simply type the trojan name into google and go from there.

http://www.symantec.com/search/

How current is you anti-virus? You need to update it at least weekly.

Are you running a firewall?

The torjan probably came in an email or something you downloaded and opened.

My anti virus automaticly updates daily [provided I'm online]. I use microsoft's firewall [with XP]

I guess it isn't possible to back track and figure out where I got it
