AMD is to Sempron...

...as Intel is to Celeron?

I'd prefer AMD as I have been impressed with them over the years
In looking for an inexpesive laptop (it's home will be in a "work van"), I am running into the Sempron line of AMD processors
I am not familer with how they stack up to the Athlon line, with which I am familier

I would prefer an Athlon, but I'm not sure if I am overlooking the Sempron because I think it will perform like a Celeron (which I will not purchase)

It appears to be about $200 or so to "bump up" to the Athlon on the machines I am looking at, I am wondering if it is worth it, or should I save a little money

This will be a "mobile office" machine that will have a few duties
It will be running accounting and customer manager software
It will be used to estimate and invoice (and print them), and will be used to run estimating software
It will be used to run programs in customers homes like:
Demonstration videos, picture slide shows, color/swatch/paint tool and AutoCad and similar type software

Any tips, opinions, or other information would be appreciated
Thank You

I would save money elsewhere. I always recommend the Athlon over the Semperon as well as the Pentium over the Celeron. Get 512 memory, too.

Thanks chfite,
I appreciate the tip
The 512 memory was not negotiable in my mind, I definitely want that
But I was begining to wonder about the processor
Thanks for the input
As you may have gathered from my wording, I would prefer an Athlon anyway
Sounds like that was the right way of looking at it
Thanks for the "back-up"
