Computer upgrade

I have a 6 year old Emachine and it is a dialup. What is the easiest and cheapest way to upgrade to a faster service? Will I need to get all new equipment or just the processer? Help! Thanks,Kegler

If you just want faster internet access, you may need to intall a network card, $10 or less, or you may have to buy nothing at all, depends on what you get in your braodband internet package.

6 years old, You should think about a new or used newer puter,

You can have faster download and upload speed. But you didnt mention what your cpu speed was, or front side bus. or ram and ram speed.

If you are over 500 mghz, you would be fine, 512 ram, and 150 fsb.

Anything less than that, id just spend $300-400 get a new puter, there is some deals out there.

My nieghbor just got a compag from stables for $399 and then he bought a dell for a friend for $350.

If you are going broadband. depends what there current special, same as with dsl.

I got a free modem and free hookup, when I did mine.

I wouldn't spend that little on a new computer. A decent computer will cost you more than that. But I digress.

Surely a new computer is in order.

a new Dell will run from $399 to $899 from www.apex.com or www.techbargains.com just follow the instructions... the $899 comes with a flatscreen monitor also.. most come with free printers.. can't build it for that ..
