backing up files

I want to back-up some of my computer files. I figured how to apply them to my CD burner. Now i need to specifically know what kind of file names i should download.
I thought "desktop" would be o.k. but, wow!! there were too many files for the disc. Everybody says to back up your files! i'm asking what ones?
Thanks

I don;t understand your question. Whatever you are backing up already has a filename. Why would you want to change the filename?

Let me re-phrase it this way... I am told to "back" my files for security, computer dies, etc. any number of reasons. I don't want to change ANY files.

pgtek,

Just backed up my C-Drive on a C.D.. Thats what i wanted. Back-ups should be chosen on C-Drive,right?

Next question...What happens if i run oun out of disc space while i'm burning?

Thanks

What you want to do is to back your data files. You do not want to back up your installed programs, just your data.
