When almost any of my homes overhead light are on my monitor flickers quite a bit. In my den where my computer lives I have a ceiling fan with a light kit. The ceiling fan can run and there is no problem, but when the lights are turned on the flickering begins. Any ideas?

I have been forced to work on a micron laptopwith windows 98 SE. I have tried to stay away from 98 for years but this one caught me. The touch pad and stick are not smooth. It as as though the desktop has an invisable grid that the mouse is jumping to. This makes it difficult to navigate to small items as the mouse always moves to either side again as if it snapping to a grid. I know this laptop is OK as they windows 2000 on it and t was smooth as glass. Machine just too slow for 2000 so they asked me to load 98. This is a clean load with all updates and current video drivers etc. Is there a secret that I have forgotten?
