Question FireFox

Has anyone been having any trouble with FireFox? It seems that every couple of weeks, I lose all my bookmarks. It's getting a little old having to redo them each time. Is there a way I can save them to a folder or some place on my HD? I'm running Win 2000 Pro on a Dell Dimension 4100.

I have not had any problems with Firefox.

You can export your bookmarks to a file.

Select "Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks..." to bring up the bookmarks window. Then select "File->Export..." and you will be able to browse to a directory and specify a filename (or use the default filename of bookmarks.html).

When you need to reload the bookmarks, you simply use the "import" item on the same menu.

Post Firefox

This is a known problem with Firefox and is a real pain. I suggest you go to manage bookmarks and export them to a place on your hard drive so they can be restored if this happens again.

If I remember correctly the latest version of Firefox was supposed to have fixed this.

This is the first I've heard of it.

I've been using FireFox for some time now. Never had a problem.

firefox bookmarks

What Operating System are you running?

It is more like a problem with a corrupt profile than with Firefox, but you never know.

The bookmarks are stored in your profile and if the profile gets corrupt (reasons for this are huge) it may not be copying over the files. They are most likely still in the original location the profile.

Making a backup, by managing and exporting is a great way to keep track easily, but this does not help you in your current problem.

Find you profile folder on your PC.

I believe the bookmarks can be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

good luck

Well, if you read my earlier post I said to check the firefox site and there is lots of people who experienced this problem. It is so uncommon that they have a special forum just on this one subject,

I have done fixes on several systems in my business and some are impossible to restore.

Check for yourself. Gives help on attempting to restore them once lost.

I'm not trying say you're wrong. I believe you. Just saying that it's the first I've heard of it.
