DSL speed 3.0 Mbps vs. 1.5 Mbps noticeable difference?

I'm upgrading from dial-up to DSL. Is there a noticeable difference between 3.0Mpbs and 1.5 Mpbs? I mostly browse with the occasional dowloads for updates and Ipod music downloads. However, just purchased new more capable pc and will be sending some digital pics, movies, etc.

I can get 3.0 for 6 month sign up offer, 1.5 for 12 month offer, five dollar difference per month in price after initial switch.

Thanks

For only $5 more per month, I would definitely go for the 3.0 Mbps. Probably a slight improvement in browsing speeds, but a pretty big improvement when downloading large files.
