Playstation-USB
Ok, guys its time for another way out there question Is it possible to take a Playstation 1 or 2 controller and make it USB? Now i have several of the store bought Playstation to USB converters, but Im just wondering if it is at all possible to make my own? Im 99.9% sure you can't cut the end off and just stick a USB end there, that much I understand.

you would need to "Pin Out" the Playstation controller connector to determine which wire is connected to which pin and then "Pin Out" the converter to determine which plug on the Playstation side goes to which pin on the USB side.

Unlike the Xbox controller, the PS controller is not USB, there is no way you can plug a non USB device into a USB port and have it work without an adapter or converter.

I understand what your up to as I am in the process of converting old NES/SNES controller into a USB PC controller. Unfortunately, I gave my controllers away and it is quite difficult finding one at a store to experiment with. Though there are places that discuss how to go about making your own conversions so it is certaintly possible. I've heard someone say he took an old PC controller; opened it; snipped the USB wires and used the USB cord to seemlessly replace the old controller adapter with a soldering iron. Other people have bought kits with instructions on how to do it yourself with the correct parts provided. Sounds cool as they become just plug-n-play on PCs. I haven't looked, but I'm sure there are people doing the same with Playstation controllers.
