Stange desktop icon?!?!

Recently a new icon appeared on my desktop. The name below it is : hs_err_pid3476.log When i open it, a notepad opens w/ a bunch of strange info that begins like this:
"
An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) occurred at PC=0x62A23CF
Function=Java_sun_awt_windows_WColor_getDefaultColor+0x2E0D
Library=C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\bin\awt.dll

Current Java thread:
at sun.awt.windows.WToolkit.eventLoop(Native Method)
at sun.awt.windows.WToolkit.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

Any ideas where something like this comes from? Is there a problem?
thanks,
birch

Looks like an application crashed (in this case java) and left a little note for you.
I don't know there is anything to worry about and it could be safely deleted but if you keep getting them then there would be something to fix.
Java can run in several forms but the most common is in conjusnction with your browser to display images and such as you surf the internet.

It could be as simple as a visting a page that had an error on it. I'd just delete it and watch for more before worrying about it too much.

/cheers
