Wow, I'm in the wrong business

Saw a commercial the other night on tv for "no credit check, we'll sell you a computer for low down payment and low monthly payments" company.

Just browsed their website and it's a Gateway

256 Megs of RAM
Intel 2.66 Gigahertz processor
80 Gig hard drive
17" color monitor
CD Rom drive
3yr warranty
Microsoft Windows XP

And they're offering this fine hardware for the low, low price of only $99 down and $39.99 a week.........for 52 weeks. Which works out to a total of $2178.48! Similar unit is about $800 w/shipping from Gateway.

Do people actually for fall for this stuff???

Evidently so. (aveage consumer debt per household). In fact one school of economic thought suggests that the voraciousness of American consumerism is the only thing staving off world wide inflation.

newspaper deals

I see those computer deals in our local paper also
I don't bite...I go to my local computer dealer and buy the whole pkg. and he can run the software
then I get free support after that if need be. In the long run the computer and all would be four times cheaper plus the needed support
