Question "JAVA" ... due to missing or something?

Hi:
There are three computers in my household. All are manufactured by HP and very identical in
features, except years' difference and all working very well.

One of my family members need to put his 'time-card' from home, even though there
is the computer he's using in his field-office.

Every day, he is able to put his 'time-card' ONLY one of the computers. Other 'two'
computers, he's NOT able to bring up the site for his 'time-card.'

Then, he asked his co-workers about this problem whey he's NOT able to get the site
for 'time-card.' His co-worker told him the problem is MOST likely 'Java.'
And, if there is 'JAVA' on two of the computers, he's able to get the web-site which
has his daily 'time-card.'

What is 'JAVA?'
I heard about 'Java,' however all of us in my household does NOT know about 'JAVA,'
.... how or what should we do with 'Java,' since we, all are non-tech. knowledge
except basic computer knowledge.

Thanks for your help in advance, ... Always,
PineCone

I do believe you need a free download of Java to be able to use chat rooms
It's easy to get off the internet about 130 MB pretty big download for old computers maybe

Thanks, ... but 'had' JAVA before, then 'How to enable?'

Hi:
Thanks for your response.

However, as recalling that he could access the web-site for his 'time-card,'
until two weeks ago, there WAS 'JAVA' somewhere in WindowsXP.

Wonder how to 'enable' JAVA to bring up the site necessary for his 'time-card?'
Is this to be 'Internet Option,' then 'Advance,' click 'Java?'

Which box of 'Java' should I click/tick on?

There are two places in IE to enable JAVA. Both are under TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS. Then select the SECURITY tab and the OPTIONS.
Also popup blacker might be his problem as well. If the timecard comes up in a popup window he may need to disable popup blocking on the work site.

Thanks, ... his site is 'Security'

Hi:
Thanks for your response.

In regard to 'Security,' ... yes, he's working in the filed of 'Security.'
I might say that his work involving a lot of 'security' about which he even
NOT able to discuss with family members.
Also, he needs to access the site with 'special' code. Otherwise, it does
NOT work at all.

Is that/security(top) to be one of reasons NOT get the web-site?

However, his co-worker told him the problem is 'JAVA,' ...
or this co-worker has ONLY one computer, then he may NOT
pin-point this problem properly.

As to 'Pop-up,' ... all of three computers have 'Pop-up,' then I doubt
'Pop-up' has something to do with.

I told him about this, ... however since we all are scared to put/mark
on 'security,' then could you guide us 'step-by-stey' basis?

Thanks, ALWAYS, ... We, all really appreciate the help.

Within internet explorer at the top bar click tools then select internet options. A window will open with multiple tabs across the top. select the security tab. open the setting and scroll down the list and check the JAVA permissions. Make sure they are not 'disabled'.

Thanks, ... Missing one of them

Hi:
Thanks for your help. I, we really appreciate your response.

I went to Internet Option from 'Tools' at the top, then Security and clicked
'Custom Level.'

In 'JAVA' permission, ... all of three computers have 'High Safey.'

On working computer he's using now, there is "NET Framework - reliant components" at
the very top of Security Setting.
but another computer which he can not 'log-in' for his 'time-card,' there is NO "NET Framework,...
...' at the Security Setting.

There are 'two' drop-down menues on "NET Framework, .... "
(1) Run componets not signed with Authenticode ... "Enable"

(2) Run components signed with Authenticode ..... "Enable'

Is this, missing part above causing him NOT able to 'log-in' for his
'time-card?'

If this is a culpit, then how am I/we able to resolve this problem?

Thanks for your help, ... ALWAYS, ...

Thanks, ... Both downloaded

Hi:
Thanks for two sites you provided.

I downloaded both, Java and .NET Framework.

Tomorrow, Sunday he is off from the work, then hopefully Monday evening,
he's able to log-in' not only one computer but also other computers. Because,
he wants to access all, three computers due to 'time-card'/money involved.

Thanks ALL for your help and support on this.
I really appreciate.

Arrow All computers are NOT old

Hi:
All, three computers are NOT old and with Windows XPs.

One of them was purchased just a week ago from Best Buy.
It's a powerful machine but due to 'Security' issue attached,
then this problem started to surface.

If you're in the field of 'Security'(not ordinary), then you
might comprehend what I'm talking about. Because, I can NOT
describe this problem in detail because of 'sensitivity'
involve.

Anyway, I downloaded and installed, both, 'Java' and '.NET' that
were provided by one of members, above. Thanks!

Hopefully, everything is good to go.

All works except a brand new computer

Hi:
I would like to let you know regarding my previous post, 'JAVA'
that has some relation to his 'time-card.'

First off, ... all computers works on my family member's time-card
after downloaded and installed 'two,' 'JAVA' update along with 'NET
Framework.'

However, ONLY one computer which is a brand new purchased
about 10 days ago, ... does NOT work on his 'time-card,' although I did
the exact thing, ... downloaded and installed 'JAVA' and '.NET Frame, ..'

Then, one of members, above who stated about 'software' his company
has something to do, ... is right.

When we got his company's e-mail which included his 'time-card,'
we didn't have another computer. If he needs to access his 'time-card'
on the brand new computer, then he needs to contact his company to
send an e-mail which generates/instrument his 'time-card.'

I/we are all SO relieved to find a good solution on my/our mystery.

Thanks ALL, ... ALWAYS,
