Hard Drive Install Help

I just replaced my hard drive. I put the XP install disk that came with the computer in & booted from the CD. I am at the setup screen it is asking about a partition. My choices are 1) To install XP on the selected item press enter.
2) To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press C
3) To delete the selected partition press D
It says it has an unpartitioned space 38162mb
The drive is a Seagate, it says it is low level formatted from the factory.
Which do I choose? Thanks in advance, Mike

You choose the one you want. We can't make this decision for you. Only you can make this decision.

Do you want a single partition, or do you want one or more partitions?

A single partition means you will have a C drive, the full size of your new hard drive.

Multiple partitions means you will have one or more hard drives (C, D, etc.). You will have to decide what size to make them.

Some people prefer a single partition. Others prefer multiple partitions. There are pros and cons to both ways.

The only option you can pick and have setup continue is #2. You have a new 40GB drive, so there are no partitions to delete so 3 is out, and you can't install XP on an unpartitioned drive so 1 is out. For a single 40GB partition just keep the default settings, Racraft has touched on the multiple partition options.
