automatic restart-system failure
I've been reading in the latest PC magazine
advise about unchecking the automatic restart
in system failure..maybe this is a bad write up for the windows xp O.S.Can I safely follow this advise and uncheck the automatic restart. You right click my computer click properties
system failure and uncheck the automatic restart
What do all you experts say about this?

If you have a major problem that causes the OS to restart, it could end up in a loop, and keep restarting until you pull the plug out of the wall in frustration..

I have the automatic restart option unchecked.
The advantage is that when there is an error (blue screen of death), you are able to get some information to research. It will usually give you some sort of STOP error that you can type into google and find out how to fix it.
If you have your pc set to automatic restart, you usually do not have enough time to read what the error actually says. Therefore, you have no way to research the error. As AxlMyk states, you could get stuck in an endless loop.

I have mine unchecked as well. I actually got caught in that loop once and the only way I could read what the stop error was was to quick take a picture of the screen with my digital camera lol. worked though. There is no safety concern with unchecking that box
