Networking 2 computers

My network connection between my wife's computer and mine is not connected. My computer is the adminstrator while every printing scheduled goes through hers. I have tried using the network wizard on both computers to no avail. Any ideas???

What operating systems? How are the computers connected? Is their a router involved? Static or dynamic IP addresses?

Sorry about that. Both computers are running XP Pro S2, hardwired through a D-Link router VIA Rhine II Ethernet Adpter. I get a box on hers that says, "Some of this computer's network hardware is still disconnected. Before you can continue, you must either plug in or otherwise connect all of your hardware, or select Ignore disconnected network hardware." I checked the box to ignore. Everything is connected into the CPU. I believe my address is static.

Can both PC's get to the web? If so then it's just a matter of getting them to speak to each other, probably a software firewall matter.

Biggie: what just changed? New patch cables between the PC's and router? somebody vacum/dust/something nasty like cleaning and disturbed the wires then plugged back in?

I recall reading in the past week or two that last months batch of Microsoft patches caused a number of odd errors for a few users, and one might have been this disconnection. If I spot an email on it again I'll post it here.

Make sure you share the files you are wanting to access from the other computer. Just right click the file and go to files and security. Do you have a software firewall?
