no screen/monitor saver

Ok, I've been having this problem for a while now, and I'm stumped.

I have my system set to activate the screen saver, and then a bit later, turn of the monitor and hard drives.

It will turn off the hard drives, but the screen saver never activates, nor does it send the monitor into power save mode.

I've reinstalled about 3x now, so I'm pretty sure it's not software. The power save could be video card related, but the screen saver?

Any ideas on what to look at next?

After you right-click on the desktop and open screen saver from properties, try to select the preview option for the screen saver to see if it runs properly.

I can run it from there, as well as the run menu. I've also tried different native XP screen savers, none of them will activate.

Set it to time out in a minute - then unplug the mouse /keyboard- maybe either one is is giving enough signal to the computer so it thing there is always some "activity".

Strange behavior

My Girl friend has a Dell Percireo.And she has some games we play on it,every thing goes along fine---untill one of us goes online.After we sign off and starts to play the game again,every 2-3 minutes the game shrinks down to the task bar.This sure gets on owr nerves.Any body out there know why this is happening?? :wall: :confused:

wireless loose connection

I have a net gear wireless router, 2 desktop computers hard wire and one laptop wireless. When I first got it I had it set up as WEP and everything worked OK. Later I changed the settings to WPA. I assume I have something set wrong but cannot figure it out as every 24 hours I loose my wireless connection and I have to go to my desktop Computer and log into the router and all I have to do is hit apply again and then everything will work for another 24 hours. My laptop does work fine at both of my son's home so it must be a problem with the router. Thanks.
