jerky video

When I click on a video to watch, as an example a news video, the picture of the person talking and the audio don't match and then the audio and video will freeze for a second or two then proceed. I have a year and half old dell. Any suggestions?

is this video on your computer, or is it on the internet? sometimes when you watch on demand video, it needs some lead time.
