multiple emails

hi all. I am looking at setting up multiple user email accounts(about 200) that will be accessed from one computer only. looking for ideas, software, or any experieces you may have had. the machine will be used for several other purposes as well, so don't know if using it as a dedicated mail server will be a good option.

i'm assuming that you mean you will have one computer that around 200 people will access their email from. is this correct? hopefully they won't want to check their email at the same time! i suggest that you use some form of web based email client like yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc., so you won't have to have 200 accounts on the same computer. if you want to do it yourself, you can build a linux server running qmail for the mail transport agent, and squirrelmail for the web based interface. we've built lots of these (though it's not for the faint of heart) and they work great. with a web based client each user would open up a web browser, point it to the email server, and check their mail. nothing is kept on the computer they are working on, so it doesn't need to be anything special - it just needs to be able to get to the internet.
hope this helps.

let me explain further. this will be in a healthcare setting. users will mostly be assisted. passwords will be very problematic, as most users wont be able to remember theirs, and security is a concern, so i cant use the same pass for everyone. a mail server would probably be ideal, but this is a pilot program, funds are tight(may loosen as it proves itself). i need something that would be fast and more important, easy. some software that would allow simple user access for all, like a client that allows for 200 users that would reside on the computer and allow easy switching and hold the pass on the computer (hidden of course). a client that makes you log on (so each user can be unique and quickly identified) and automatically connects to the web mail with the correct info.
does this make any more sense, or am i just making it more confusing? lol

Once you get to the internet if it an open computer like what a library has. the problem is anybody can use it and can acess your own mail. Internet cafee also can get you into your own e-mail. From oversea i can read my e-mail as long there is acess to the internet. I don't see your problem. Security is not a problem either you say assisted to me it means someone else can and will know the password. Email is free from all IPS provided that you have one IPS THAT YOU PAY MONTHLY DUE TO.
