screensaver delete

My kids put alot of digital pic screensavers on our computer and is slowing it down. I cannot figure out how to get rid of them. Any suggestions ?

You should be able to go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and uninstall them.

Or look for them on the start menu and see if they have an uninstall.

That said, unless they had spyware in them, screensavers don't 'run' except when the screen saver is actually active.
They are simply applications that are called when the timer is reached.

I suspect, as Pendragon eluded to, that you got more than just the screensavers. You most likely picked up spyware along with them.

I suggest that you run several spyware programs and clean up your PC.

Tell your kids NOT to download anything without checking with you first. If you already told them this and they violated it then you have a different problem to deal with.

Are you able to identify the names of these programs being run? As stated earlier, they may be some form of scumware... then again, they may also just be a screensaver.

Before you start your hunt for scumware, please do the following:

- Right click on your desktop and select "Properties"
- Click the "Screen Saver" tab

What does it say under "Screen Saver" and what is the number in the "Wait" field?
