Slow ill Compaq

I got some virus.

Ran McAfee remonal, got rid of all virus's so McAfee says.

It helped but not enough, the virus must have changed something.

I also cleaned out the temp files. helped but not enough.

A lost dog in tall weeds.

Reformat your hard drive and start over.

No, it's not your only choice.. After you reformat and reinstall, stop downloading questionable files..

Do you remember what Virus it was? McAfee also finds spyware type stuff, so it might not have been a virus. If you get the virus name, which should be logged in McAfee, and then McAfee should tell you the steps to recover. Most likely, a complete clean reformat. Don't just copy over your existing OS.
