Program remnants remain.

I began installing software for an old webcam when my computer froze.
I restarted and attempted the install again but got a message; "Video Phone was found on your computer. Please remove program before installing Create and Share software".
I found the file named along with a couple of other files I could identify as being from this program and deleted them.
After doing this I still get the error message and cannot install the software.
Ideas on how to fix this?

XP on a Sempron 1800+, 1gb ram and software for the Pro Video web cam was being installed before plugging it in.
Had identified a bad stick of ram that was causing my freeze-ups and have replaced it.

Have you tried the products website for a unistall program? Usually these are needed to get rid of it all. These programs will put file in your registry and that is what most likely is giving you issues.

I purchased Registry Mechanic for just this type of problem.. After uninstalling a program I'll delete whatever folder it made in Programs, reboot, and use RM to get rid of any registry entries.. Great program..

Thanks guys.
I think you both are right on.

I downloaded the Registry Mechanic trial version and it found 354 problems!
Unfortunately it claimed to have fixed 40 leaving me with 314.

It did list them though and there are a whole bunch of registry entries relating to that Intel software.
Geeze so close to xmas and another tool to buy!
The web price is 40.00 US or about 50.00 cdn for single computer.
I think I'll wait 'till I go to my home city for the holidays and maybe it's cheaper in the box stores.

Axylmyk,
Did you buy the online ver or on a disk from a store?
I would hope the disk allows multiple computer use but maybe I'm dreaming.
I have been spoiled by our local college where their Microsoft site license extended to students.
The evening courses I took entitled me to many MS products including XP Pro for next to nothing.

I bought it online.. I'm not sure there is a boxed version.. Just between you and I, I use it on all my machines.. I don't give my registration key to anyone..
