Problems Running Windows Xp Sp2

Ok, so I have finally gotten around to installing sp2 on my pc, but have run into some problems. I have a gateway p4 2.4mhz with 512mb ram. After installing sp2 everything seemed to go smoothly. I restarted the computer and it booted up fine, I got the sp2 welcome screen and disabled the windows firewall due to already having norton firewall installed. The computer will work smoothly for a while, but then all the suddon it slows to a crawl. I checked the task manager and noticed that the computer was somehow using 100% of its resources. When I uninstall sp2 the computer goes back to running smoothly. Any ideas on what I can do to help my computer run sp2 better. I have checked for viruses, spyware, and as far as I can tell all the drivers are up to date. Thanks for the help.

A Pent 4 shouldn't be no problem

You need to check what process is consuming the processor. Click in processes, then the CPU column. This will sort them by the percentage of CPU.

It is also possible that SP2 may be updating automatically ?
Maybe your Virus Checker is kicking in.
