laptop battery

I have laptop and the battery in not working right. When on battery power, the little battery icon on the taskbar shows I have 80% and then a few seconds later, I get the battery warning and I have 7% percent power and within a minute the computer turns off. This happens with a fully charged battery. I'm assuming that bettery needs replaced, but what caused it to got bad so fast (2 years). Is it bad to leave the battery in the computer when using the A/C adaptor?

heres a search for you to look at for many tips of prolonging your battery:

2 years isnt all that unreasonable with hard usage and a standard battery.

If you look around, and bid carefully, you can get batteries for a great price on Ebay.. I got a high output batt. for my HP Pavilion for $35.. Very happy with it..

A laptop battery has a useful life of about 300 charges.

Also,
If you have a Dell laptop like me, you will also go through battery chargers like candy. I am on my 4th charger in a 1 1/2 yrs. I thought I had battery problems originally, but the charger was the culprit. In your case, seeing that the battery is 2 yrs old, it's probably time for replacement.

If you have a Dell, check the website for the battery recall. They sent me 2 batteries at no cost, even though my comp only takes one.
