1. Google for "data recovery" for companies that do it..
2. Call some of your local computer stores and ask if they can do it..

It isn't exactly cheap to get data back.. "Backup" is the key word here..

This may sound odd, but I have tried it and it has worked.

Put the hard drive in a zip lock bag, and place it in the freezer for an hour or so. Then place the hard drive back in the computer and if it works, get the data off as fast as possible.

This worked for me once, but it may not work for you.

I would at least give it a shot before paying $$$$ for a place to recover the data.

Of course, if it is really important data and you don't mind spending the money, just go that route.

Is this you primary drive and it just wont boot, or is the drive completely inaccessible?

Depending on the operating system you could attempt a reinstall (without formatting ) or a "repair".

You could also put the drive on a working computer, making this one a slave.

If the drive is completely inoperable, then the other suggestions would apply.
