Lock the Taskbar?

(wasn't that the name of a song a while back?

My mother seems to have developed an amazing knack for losing the taskbar on her laptop. Somehow, it always ends up minimised on the bottom or sides of the screen (she has arithritis ... trouble clicking & dragging). I have found that it is still visible as a single line but I don't think she can see it.

Is there some procedure to lock it? If not, can I set up a configuration where a reboot will restore the default desktop settings?

( Windows 98 SE )

I think that was Rock the Casbah, but I could be wrong =) You can right-click on the taskbar and there is an option there to lock it.

Ummm, was locking the taskbar available in Win98????
Thought that was a WinXP feature. And BTW I occasionally have problem with my Mom, same thing.

Mom is 80 & just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I give her credit for still trying new things. Dad still thinks the internet is evil ( doesn't trust cable TV either ;-) and didn't want to spend a bunch of money on new equipment so I found an old laptop for her.

98Se was the only installable system I could fit on it but it works well for her uses ... email & very little surfing on a dial-up connection.

Right-clicking the taskbar in 98SE only offers 'Auto-hide'. No 'Lock' available.
