Question Motherboard Swap?

We just bought a new o.e. equip, motherboard. Gateway GT4022 with socket 939 type motherboard, 2.4ghz. (the computer repair shop diagnostic's said bad board)

QUESTION: Is the motherboard swap something a person can do at home?
It looks like processor and other parts are just plug and/or bolt in's?
Would we be better off letting a shop do this?

Thanks for any tips or advice,,,
