MAC address for wireless card

My wife has a Dell Truemobile 1400 dual band WLAN mini PCI card wireless capability in her work laptop. I'd like to connect it to our wireless network, but I don't know the MAC address for it.

Anyone know how to get the MAC address out of this thing? It's built into the machine, and our network security requires it to recognize a particular MAC address before allowing access. Google and a search of the Dell website were no help; the documentation for the laptop is long gone, and I'm trying to avoid a call to the company help desk (located conveniently in India).

Anyone know this one?

Thanks!

There is a different MAC sublayer for each physical device type.

Go to your start menu > Run >> CMD >> then type in ipconfig

This will list your MAC address.

Wow, 3 responses within 1 minute.......

You need to run ipconfig with the /all option to get the MAC address, which is also the physical address.

You can also use the getmac utility, but this information is harder to decipher. With getmac you need the /v option.

Note that Windows help tells you all of this and more. Its usually easier and faster to use the help tools provided than to ask a question on a bulletin board.

While I agree that the forum is here to help, and I've been on that soapbox before, racraft was merely pointing out that there was a faster, sometimes easier way to find it. He wasn't flaming for not trying other avenues. I believe the forums (and I use a few), are a great source when I need info, but don't want to become an expert. That's what they're for.

Note that I answered the question.

I also provided information on how to answer the question without involving others, even if the others are from a web site.

There is a proverb. "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for life."

I believe in what that proverb tells us. When it comes to Windows questions, too many people don't realize that they have the answer in front of them.

Thanks

Thanks for all the replies- I'm a little irritated that *my* google search didn't turn up the results, because I dislike posting when the answer is close.
