New Computer Questions

Hello,
I have a new HP computer with Windows Vista. I have three questions.

1. The screen saver interferes with the sleep operation. After I place it on sleep, a few moments later the screen saver starts and I can hear the computer running; I thought the computer should be silent and in sleep mode, what causes this?
Now the only way I can get it to work properly, is to shut down screen saver.

2. If there are any vibrations or bumps onto the computer desk, this wakes up the computer from sleep. How to solve this?

3. When scheduling tasks, what happens if the first task is not finished and the next task wants to start on its scheduled time?

1. The screen saver is a program. It needs to access the hard drive to load, and if displays pictures or whatever, it needs to access those pictures. Don;t use the screen saver or make sure that it is a simple program. It will load and the sleep mode will eventually kick back in.

2. Don't hit or vibrate the desk. Or change the setting so that the mouse won't cancel sleep mode.

3. It will start when it is scheduled to. The scheduler does not care that anything else is running.

LOL that's classic!

You can change settings, as suggested. In my case I can't do that for reasons I won't get into, so a low-tech "solution" is to simply flip your mouse upside down when you're done for the day.
