System standby failed

Hello,
I have a Dell inspiron laptop running Opera. I just got a "system standby failed" box to come up with this text..."the service 'print standby' is preventing the machine from entering standby. Try stopping the service and try again." Would someone tell me what's going on and just how do I stop this service?

Cancel the print job that is causing th problem, or stop the print service.

I had to restart my computer...and it seemed to correct the problem. I still would like for someone to explain (in detail) just what happened. It's amazing to me how turning off your computer corrects so many problems.

restarting is a common cure

There are a number of reasons why restarting is healthful. Applications can have memory leaks - small pieces of memory are used and never reclaimed by the OS, leading to gradual memory starvation. Services get started and hung - perhaps because they started waiting for something to become available and then something else became dependent. After a while, they just sit there.

If you have your system lock up and refuse to do anything, power cycling is one of the best ways to get things going again. I have to do it every once in a while.
