Adjusting a home network for saving files to a single pc
Hi All,
Here is one that has me puzzled so far. My all-wireless home network consists of my desktop pc, two laptops and the kids desktop pc. All but the kids pc (xp) are running Vista. I am trying to set it up so that both laptops and the kids desktop have the ability to save to my desktop pc. The reason for this is to only have to back up data on one computer. Good idea so far?
My desktop is running Norton and the balance are running McAfee.
I know this involve file sharing and on my Desktop pc has Network Discovery, File Sharing, Media Sharing and Printer sharing - ON. Public Folder sharing and Password protected Sharing are OFF.
Where do I go from here? I still can't "see" my destop pc from either laptop or my kids pc.
Any advice would be appreciated... thanks.

Well, if you don't feel safe like that...turn it off temporarily to see if the filesharing works. If it does, turn the firewall back on and poke the needed "holes" in it to allow filesharing.
