Dell Demension 2400 Power problem

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 and the problem that I am having is after the computer sits for a few minutes instead of going to screen saver like it has for the last couple years, the monitor goes black and as soon as I move the mouse it comes back up but kind of sluggish at first. It is almost like it is in standby but I have checked settings. Also the green power light it real dim and you can see it blink sometimes but other times it is completely out.
Any help would be greatly appreicated. It seems like it getting worse.

Thanks

If you are running XP-go to system restore & set PC back to an earlier time b/4 this problem began.
Let us know what happens.

Two things I can think of, check the power settings in the bios and/or reset the bios to factory defaults. The second thing would be the power supply, do you have a spare you could put in this machine temporarily?
