"New Hardware Found" Won't go Away

Hi,

I'm running XP on a desktop and I just installed a wireless PCI card. Everything seemed to install correctly since I'm
now able to connect wirelessly to the internet. However, I'm still getting the "Found new hardware" installation wizard
every time I restart the machine. Somehow XP doesn't think the hardware has been installed completely even though everything works fine.

What do I need to do to convince the machine that all hardware/software has already been installed?

Thanks,

Dave

Go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager and see if there are any yellow warnings.

oneofamill,

I did as you suggested and found no yellow warning flags. I located the wireless card under Network Adapters and the device status is "This device is working properly".

?

How did you install the drivers? Did you let the computer find the device, then install the drivers, or, did you install the drivers first? What did the manufacturer suggest?

I installed following mfg instructions, drivers first, then hardware.

It's all moot now since subsequent reboots seem to have cleared up the problem.

Thanks for the help anyway!
