Electrical-Internet connection

I am very curious about how getting the Internet over the electrical land lines is going? Last I heard there was a test in the Chicago area..they say it works alright but with some static?
any feedback ! Whats the latest news concerning this?
wouldn't it be nice to just plug into any electrical outlet & be on the Internet?

As far as I know it has been in use on a very small scale since 2005. Amateur radio users are against it because of the interference it causes, and the ARRL has been in court with the FCC over the issue more times than I can count.

I haven't really kept up on things so I do not know where everything stands as of Feb 2008. If you want to do a search for "BPL" you will find plenty more info.
