Microsoft net Framework problems
I believe the net framework was installed on my computer along with Sprint/Earthlink and Embarq's on line protection package.I no longer subscribe to these services, and don't know of any reason that the net framework is required. Whenever automatic updates are allowed, critical updates for both net1.1 and net2.0 are downloaded, but fail during the installation. This puts me in a loop of download, install & fail every time I try to update. Microsoft's fix is to re-install the original programs, which I don't have. Attempted removal of the programs have the same results. Any ideas, short of a re-format & re-install of XP?
Thanks....

When you're at the MS update page and the .net framework updates, click on them, de-select them, and select the box - Don't show this update again
You can turn Automatic updates off. Do it manually from time to time.

I de-selected both items, then every time I do manual updates, it nags me about having important updates hidden. Isn't there any way I can remove the net framework and be rid of the efforts to update?
