Running a laptop on A/C
Is it OK to use a laptop on A/C all the time? I rarely use it on battery power. Does this have any effect on the life of the battery? Thanks.

Does the manual mention anything about this? Is it a Li battery?
I would think that although you don't use it often on battery now, you or someone else may in the future. I would probably use it on battery until you get a low warning, then fully charge it, and remove it. Repeat maybe every 6 months?
If you just take it out and let it sit, then it might not be good to go 18 mos down the road when you have a need.
Just an opinion...

I'm running my laptop on AC as I write this. For my HP it is recommended that you run it on battery once a month to the bitter end and then recharge it.
My previous laptop ruined the battery by allowing it to go completely dead and then trying to recharge. The battery "gas gauge" would show a full charge but it didn't have enough "oomf" to even boot up before going dead. I kept it on the charger all the time and it made no difference. I ran it that way for years until it finally crapped out completely about a month ago.

My 3 yr-old compaq laptop runs most of the time on A/C power and the battery is still in good shape.
I don't know about the one you got but newer laptops will stop charging the battery once it's full while running on A/C.
