Combining Printer & Scanner on Single USB Port

I have an older computer with just 1 USB port. Is there any way to connect both a printer and a scanner to the one port? Similar to an A/B Switch on a Parallel Port.

You will be pleased to know it is MUCH easier than that! All you need is an inexpensive USB hub. For about $15 you can get a 4-port USB hub which plugs into your one USB port, and then you can plug in 4 devices. All can be used at the same time; no switching required as it was back then.

Ray, can't answer your question directly, but they sell USB expansion cards (if you have an open slot) for about $10 all over the place. Probably cheaper than any sort of switch.

Wait for a Guru to weigh in. I used to be, but haven't kept up.

Edit: And as you see, my brain is as slow as my typing. Core was faster and had a better idea!

Buy a USB hub. Plug it into the USB port and you have 2-4 ports to use.

I bought a 4 socket USB hub from newegg.com for $15 including shipping. Works great.

Now that everyone agrees on a hub...lol

I've seen name brand hubs on sale at Wal-Mart and clearance places like Big Lots for $5-8. In fact I probably have 2 or 3 laying around here somewhere.
